Arne Slot has urged Federico Chiesa to rise to the challenge of competing with the other forwards in the team and show his worth in the second half of the season.
The Italy international is set to make just his fifth appearance of the season, coming in the FA Cup third-round tie at home to Accrington, having started just once and not played in the Premier League since September.
Chiesa, who has been on the bench for five of the last seven games, has struggled after failing to feature in Juventus’ pre-season tour of the country before his £10million move to Anfield in late August.
“It’s not only difficult for him in terms of his fitness for the game, but also having to compete with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah,” Slot said.
“Everyone knows how good คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย Mohamed Salah is. There’s no reason to take him off during a game or before a game.”
“It’s not just Federico who’s talking about his limited playing time, but also others,”
“But for Federico, it’s about how he comes in. The others are already training hard and we have to bring him up in terms of match fitness.”
“There are many reasons why he hasn’t played much, but let’s see in the next few weeks or months whether he can help us because the second half of the season is more important than the first half.”
